Viennese Rummy
Nothing laid till the end: knock at 5 or call Rummy
Viennese Rummy, Austria’s rummy without laying down, keeps every meld in your hand: two packs and two jokers, ten cards each. Meld all ten and discard the eleventh to call “Rummy!” — or knock with five points or less left unmatched, and everyone else plays one last turn. Unmatched points add up; at 101 you are out, and the last player in wins. Once a game you may buy back from 81.

How to play
- 1
Two packs and 2 jokers: 10 cards each, 11 to the first player, who starts with a discard. Nothing is laid during play — your melds stay in your hand.
- 2
Draw from the stock or take the top discard, then discard one card. Runs: 3 or more in a row of one suit (ace low or high); sets: 3 or 4 of a rank in different suits; a joker stands for any card.
- 3
Rummy!: all ten cards in melds and the eleventh discarded. The hand ends at once: you score 0, the others score their unmatched cards.
- 4
Knock with 5 or fewer unmatched points (and a discard): everyone else plays one more turn, then every hand is shown and everyone — you too — scores their unmatched cards. Nobody lays off on others’ melds.
