Okey

Turkish tile rummy

Turkey’s favorite tile game

Okey is the game you will find in every Turkish coffeehouse. Four players draw and discard numbered tiles, racing to arrange their whole rack into runs and sets. A face-up indicator tile decides which tile is wild in each hand.

Play Okey online with friends

Okey needs four players, and at Masa you never wait for the fourth. Share your table’s invite link with three friends, talk across the racks on voice chat like in a coffeehouse, and a friendly bot holds any empty seat until someone sits down.

How to play

  1. 1

Each player gets 14 tiles. The starting player gets 15 and opens by discarding one.

  2. 2

A tile is turned face up as the indicator. The tile one number higher in the same color is the okey, a wild tile that can stand in for any other.

  3. 3

On your turn, take the top tile of the center stack or the tile the previous player just discarded, then discard one tile.

  4. 4

Arrange your rack into runs (three or more consecutive numbers in one color) and sets (three or four of the same number in different colors).

  5. 5

When your 14 tiles all fit into runs and sets, discard your last tile to finish. Seven pairs of identical tiles also wins.

Frequently asked questions

How many tiles are in an Okey set?

106: four colors (red, blue, black and yellow) numbered 1 to 13, two of each, plus two false jokers.

Can 13 connect to 1 in a run?

Only at the top: 12-13-1 is a valid run, but 13-1-2 is not.

What if a player leaves in the middle of a hand?

A bot takes over the seat so the hand never stalls, and a new player can sit down later.
