Conga

A version of Konken Rummy

Chinchón’s cousin with 40 cards

Conga is how Uruguay plays Chinchón: the Spanish-style 40-card pack — ace to seven, then jack, queen and king, which count 8, 9 and 10 — and no jokers at all. Keep your melds in your hand, cut when you can and stay below 100 points; a chinchón still wins the game outright.

Play Conga online with friends

At Masa, Conga is a game of its own right next to Konken Rummy: pick it in the games list, open a table and share its code or link with your friends, or sit at a house table. Bots fill the empty chairs, and voice chat keeps the table talking.

How to play

  1. 1

Conga: 7 cards each. Meld them all in runs (one suit) and sets, then cut. Over 100 points is out; the last player in wins.

  2. 2

    40 cards: A–7, J, Q, K. J Q K follow the 7 in runs and count 8, 9 and 10. No jokers.

  3. 3

Draw from the stock or take the top of the pile, then discard. Your melds stay in your hand until you cut.

  4. 4

Cut with your discard when every other card is melded (you score −10) or when one card worth 3 or less is left (it is your score). Nobody cuts in the first round.

  5. 5

Chinchón: all 7 cards in a row of one suit, no joker — it wins the game at once.
