Straight Gin
No knocking: only gin ends the hand
Straight Gin is Gin Rummy for the patient: nobody may knock, so a hand only ends when a player goes gin with all ten cards in melds (or the stock runs out). Undercuts disappear, every hand is played to the end, and the big gin bonuses decide the game more often than in the classic version.

Play Straight Gin online with friends
At Masa, Straight Gin is a game of its own right next to Gin Rummy: pick it in the games list, open a table and share its code or link with your friends, or sit at a house table. Bots fill the empty chairs, and voice chat keeps the table talking.
How to play
- 1
Two players. Arrange your cards into melds and keep your deadwood low. When someone reaches 100 points, the higher final score wins the prize pool.
- 2
Each player gets 10 cards. One card is turned up to start the discard pile.
- 3
The player who didn't deal may take the upcard first; if they pass, the dealer may. If both pass, the non-dealer draws from the stock.
- 4
On your turn, draw from the stock or take the top discard, then discard one card. You can't throw back the card you just took from the pile.
- 5
Melds are 3 or 4 cards of the same rank, or 3 or more in a row of one suit. Aces are low: A-2-3 counts, Q-K-A doesn't.
- 6
Cards outside your melds are deadwood: aces 1, number cards their value, J, Q and K 10.
- 7
No knocking — only gin ends a hand
