Rummy 500
500 Rum
Meld it all, first to 500
Rummy 500 is the rummy many American families grew up with. Every card you put on the table scores, every card left in your hand counts against you, and the discard pile is spread out — you can dig into it, as long as you meld the card you pick right away.

Play Rummy 500 online with friends
Play with 2, 3 or 4 at one table: invite friends, or let bots fill the empty chairs — friends can sit before the first move or between two hands. Every take, meld and lay-off plays out on a 3D table.
How to play
- 1
With 3 or 4 players everyone gets 7 cards; with two, 13. One card starts the discard pile, spread so every card shows.
- 2
On your turn, draw from the stock — or take any card from the pile together with every card above it, as long as the card you pick goes on the table this turn.
- 3
Lay sets of 3 or 4 of a rank and runs of 3 or more in a suit. Aces can be high or low, but not in the middle (no K-A-2).
- 4
Add cards to any meld on the table, yours or another player’s — they score for you.
- 5
End your turn with a discard. The hand ends when someone has no cards left, or when the stock runs out.
Frequently asked questions
Can I take a card from the middle of the pile?
Yes — you take it and every card above it, and the card you picked must be melded or laid off right away.
Do I score cards I add to someone else’s meld?
Yes. Every card you lay off scores for you, whoever started the meld.
Do I have to discard to go out?
No. You can go out by melding your last cards, or by discarding the last one.
How is Rummy 500 different from Gin Rummy?
Gin is a two-player game of low deadwood and knocking; in Rummy 500 up to four players lay melds as they go and score every card they put down.
