Ludo

Roll a six and race your pawns home

Ludo is the race game everybody grew up with: roll a six to bring a pawn out, race it around the board and send rivals back to the start. On Masa you play it at a 3D table with friends and voice chat — classic Ludo with safe stars, while Spanish Parchís and Ludo 40, the 40-square game played across Europe and Turkey, have pages and tables of their own.

Play Ludo online with friends

A game takes 15 to 30 minutes with four players, less heads-up. Invite friends, team up two against two, or let bots keep the seats warm until your friends arrive — they can take a bot’s seat until the first pawn moves.

How to play

  1. 1

Each player has four pawns in a yard in one corner of the board. Players take turns rolling one die, clockwise.

  2. 2

Roll a 6 to bring a pawn out onto your start square. Every 6 gives you another roll.

  3. 3

Move one pawn by the number you rolled, once around the board and up your colored home column. If you can move, you must.

  4. 4

Land on a single rival pawn to send it back to its yard — and roll again. Stars and start squares are safe, and so are two pawns of one color together.

  5. 5

You need the exact number to get home, and every pawn home earns another roll. Three 6s in a row end your turn.

Other versions of Ludo

Same table, other rules: each version is a game of its own at Masa, with its own tables, rules and stats.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a 6 to start?

Yes. A 6 brings a pawn out onto your start square, and every 6 gives you another roll.

Which squares are safe?

The stars, the start squares and any square where two of your pawns stand together.

What happens if I roll three 6s?

Your turn ends, and the dice pass to the next player.

Can I play in teams?

Yes. At a table of four, turn on Teams: partners sit opposite, never capture each other and win together.
