Klaberjass
The classic two-hander: bella, runs and bête, to 500
Klaberjass — Klob, Clobyosh or Bela to many families — is the two-handed classic of New York, London and Tel Aviv card tables. Six cards and a turn-up, take or pass, three more cards, then nine tricks where the jack and nine of trump rule. If you take the trump, outscore your opponent or go bête. First to 500 wins.

- 1
Two players, 32 cards: six each and a turned-up card. Take its suit or pass; then name another suit or pass. Nobody takes: a new deal.

Three more cards each; the next card is shown. The seven of trump swaps for the turned card.
- 3
Runs: three in a row 20, four or more 50 — only the best one’s owner scores, with a trick. Bella (king and queen of trump) 20.
- 4
Follow suit; beat a trump lead if you can; if you can’t follow, you must trump.
