Rapid Chess
A game clock of 10+0 or 15+10: time to think
Rapid is chess with a comfortable clock: ten minutes each, or fifteen minutes plus ten seconds a move — the control of the FIDE World Rapid Championship. You have time to calculate and to plan, but not to wander; run out of time and the game is lost. It is the favourite pace of club players who want a real game without a whole afternoon.

Play Rapid Chess online with friends
At Masa, Rapid Chess is a game of its own right next to Chess: pick it in the games list, open a table and share its code or link with your friends, or sit at a house table. Bots fill the empty chairs, and voice chat keeps the table talking.
How to play
- 1
White moves first. Each piece moves in its own way: the knight jumps, bishops go diagonally, rooks straight, the queen both.
- 2
Capture by moving onto an enemy piece. Your king may never be left in check.
- 3
Special moves: castling, en passant and promotion when a pawn reaches the last rank.
- 4
Checkmate the enemy king to win.
House rules
Pick any of these when you create a table; a table that changes none plays the rules above.
