Old Maid

Papaz Kaçtı

Pass the pairs, dodge the king

Papaz Kaçtı is the Turkish take on Old Maid. Three kings are removed from the deck, so one king is left without a partner. Pair up your cards, pick from your neighbor and make sure that lonely king is not yours at the end.

Play Old Maid online with friends

Old Maid is a bluffing game, and bluffs are more fun face to face: turn on video chat and watch your friends react as you pick from their hands. Up to six players fit at the table, and a four-player game is over in three quick rounds.

How to play

  1. 1

Three kings are removed and all remaining cards are dealt.

  2. 2

Everyone discards their pairs face up. A player with no cards left is safe.

  3. 3

In turn, pick a face-down card from the player before you. If it makes a pair, discard it.

  4. 4

The giver can shuffle their hand or make a card stick up to bluff.

  5. 5

The player left holding the last king loses the round.

Frequently asked questions

Is there any skill involved?

Very little: it is a game of luck and bluffing, which makes it perfect for fast, noisy tables.

Why three kings?

Removing three of the four kings leaves one king with no partner, and that king cannot be discarded.

How many can play?

Two to six players, four by default.
