Leekha

A version of Hearts

With a partner, beware the ten of diamonds

Leekha is how the Levant and the Gulf play Hearts: two teams of two, every heart a point, the queen of spades 13 and the ten of diamonds 10. A player who cannot follow suit must throw the queen of spades or the ten of diamonds — the leekha. When a total reaches 101, the team with the lower total wins.

Play Leekha online with friends

At Masa, Leekha is a game of its own right next to Hearts: pick it in the games list, open a table and share its code or link with your friends, or sit at a house table. Bots fill the empty chairs, and voice chat keeps the table talking.

How to play

  1. 1

Two teams: partners sit across from each other. Avoid points — when a total reaches 101, the team with the lower total wins and shares the prize pool (minus the 5% table fee).

  2. 2

Everyone gets 13 cards. There are no trumps.

  3. 3

Before each hand pass three cards: to the next player, then to the previous one, in turn. There is no hand without a pass.

  4. 4

The player after the dealer leads any card — a heart too.

  5. 5

Follow suit. With no card of the suit led you must throw the Q♠ or the 10♦ if you hold one — that is the leekha.
