No-Trump Batak

A version of Batak

Batak with no trump: beat the trick, take the most

No-Trump Batak — Kozsuz Batak in Turkish — strips batak down to pure card play: there is no auction and no trump suit, so the highest card of the suit that was led always wins. Follow the suit and beat the card on the table when you can; with none of that suit, any card goes. Every trick is a point, and a table can switch on calls for an extra edge.

Play No-Trump Batak online with friends

At Masa, No-Trump Batak is a game of its own right next to Batak: pick it in the games list, open a table and share its code or link with your friends, or sit at a house table. Bots fill the empty chairs, and voice chat keeps the table talking.

How to play

  1. 1

4 players, 13 cards each, 4 hands. The highest total after the last hand wins the pot (minus the 5% table fee); ties share it.

  2. 2

No bidding and no trump at all: the highest card of the suit led wins the trick. The player after the dealer leads the first trick; the winner of each trick leads the next.

  3. 3

Follow the suit that was led, and if you can, beat the highest card on the trick.

  4. 4

No card of that suit? Play any card — with no trump it can’t win the trick.
