Egyptian Tarneeb
Every bid names its trump: overcall by suit or double
Egyptian Tarneeb — Tarneeb Masrawy — is how Cairo and Alexandria play the partnership game: every bid names tricks and the trump together, from 7 up to 13, and the same number in a higher suit beats it. A pass is not final, so players come back into the auction; an opponent can double, and the bidders can redouble. A hand of four points or less is Dakak and changes the bidding; nine of one suit is Out of Call. Make your bid with your partner and race to 31.

How to play
- 1
Partners across. The first team to 31 wins.
- 2
A bid names tricks and the trump: 7 to 13. The same number beats a lower suit (♣ < ♠ < ♥ < ♦). A pass is not final; the bidding ends after a full round with no new bid. Four passes: the same dealer deals again.
- 3
An opponent of the last bidder may double: the bidders win or lose double (the defenders’ tricks stay as they are).
- 4
Dakak: a hand worth 4 points or less (A 4, K 3, Q 2, J 1) — its team bids from 8, the other team from 11. Out of Call: nine or more of one suit — that player may not bid.
- 5
The declarer leads. Follow suit; without it, any card.
House rules
Pick any of these when you create a table; a table that changes none plays the rules above.
- Suit order — ♣ ♠ ♥ ♦ · ♣ ♦ ♥ ♠ NT
- Redouble — The doubled side may answer ×4
