PLO5

A version of Texas Hold’em

Omaha with five hole cards — still play exactly two

PLO5 — Five Card Omaha — deals five hole cards to every player. The rules are Omaha’s: exactly two of your cards and exactly three from the board make your hand, and nobody can bet more than the pot. With five cards the hands get bigger, the draws stronger and the pots livelier; it is a favourite of British, German, French and Brazilian players.

Play PLO5 online with friends

At Masa, PLO5 is a game of its own right next to Texas Hold’em: pick it in the games list, open a table and share its code or link with your friends, or sit at a house table. Bots fill the empty chairs, and voice chat keeps the table talking.

How to play

  1. 1

You get 5 cards. Your hand is exactly two of them with exactly three of the five on the board — a flush needs two of your own cards in the suit.

  2. 2

Two blinds start each pot and move one seat on every hand. A new player waits until the big blind reaches them — or posts one to play at once.

  3. 3

Pot limit: the most you can bet is the pot; the most you can raise is your call plus the pot after it. The Pot button picks that amount.

Frequently asked questions

Is PLO5 the same game as Texas Hold’em?
